Preston is adjusting well to his new life in Houston.
Mommy and Daddy still have some more pictures to share from the last two days of their recent roadtrip.
As the family drove further south, the temperature and humidity were getting higher. In Atlanta, Mommy had to pour two bottles of water all over Preston (oh, he loved it!) before taking him to Centennial Olympic Park and Coca-Cola Museum to snap a couple of pictures.

Mommy and Daddy were very excited about their next stop – New Orleans, Louisiana! They remembered how happy their tummies were last time they visited this city.
New Orleans is a fun city to visit. French Quarter is always festive!

Preston didn’t get to taste the canjun cuisine Mommy and Daddy had but he wasn’t going to leave New Orleans without at least having a bite of Cafe Du Monde’s beignet!

On day3 of the trip, Preston visited Washington D.C., one of Mommy and Daddy’s favorite cities. Daddy was even considering taking a job here but eventually decided to go to Houston.

The next day Preston arrived in Virginia and continued his journey south through Skyline Drive in Shenandoah National Park.
The beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains on Skyline Drive.

Mommy and Daddy planned a 3-hour hike in Shenandoah National Park. It is a bear country here so Preston had to be on leash. Mommy and Daddy picked a trail (rose river trail) with streams and waterfalls. They know how much Preston loves the water.

**Reminder** See Preston on TV 7/24 (Sat) 8pm ET/PT (7pm Central) on Animal Planet “Dogs vs. Cats“!
Preston’s road trip is off to a great start.
Preston visited his blogging friend, Oliver Tates, when passing through New Jersey.

Preston also met his 1-year-old cousin Deana for the first time and learned that babies are not as scary as he previously thought. They give treats…very generously.

After leaving New Jersey, Preston’s next stop is Philadelphia.

Of course Philly Cheesesteak is on the must-do list.
Preston is here to settle the famous Philly Cheesesteak rivalry between Geno’s and Pat’s. They are located across the street from each other.
And the verdict is….
After leaving Prince Edward Island, Preston headed towards Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia. This is one of the most beautiful places Mommy and Daddy have ever been to. People are very friendly here too. Mommy and Daddy like Nova Scotia so much that they have already talked about going back to see fall foliage next time. Preston spent two days here and had his first encounter with a moose in Cape Breton Highlands National Park.

Hiking with Preston is a lot of fun but Mommy and Daddy have to keep their eyes on him the whole time because he has tons of curiosity and NO fear of heights!

Preston never missed any chances to get his paws wet even when the water was freezing cold!

The last stop on the trip before heading home was Fundy National Park, New Brunswick, Canada. There are lots of trails with great views of Bay of Fundy and waterfalls in the woods.

During the 7-day trip, Preston traveled more than 2200 miles (3500 km) and hiked 11 trails.

It was a wonderful vacation. It rained a couple of days during the trip but it didn’t wash away any fun. Cape Breton Island is such a pretty place to visit. Mommy and Daddy hope after seeing how much fun Preston had, you will want to include Nova Scotia in your next vacation planning.

Mommy and Daddy picked a more strenous trail (Acadia Mountain Trail). Even an experienced hiker like Preston needed a little help from Mommy and Daddy on this trail.

Apparently, a couple of hours of hiking wasn’t enough to tire Preston out. He went for a swim as soon as we arrived at Echo Lake.

Preston visited during low tide. The scenery at high tide is very different.

After leaving The Hopewell Rocks, Preston crossed The 8 mile (13 km) long Confederation Bridge from Canada mainland to Prince Edward Island. It was raining all afternoon so Preston couldn’t go to the beach as planned. Mommy and Daddy did get to visit the famous Green Gables (as in “Anne of Green Gables” novels by Lucy Maud Montgomery).

Preston’s new adventure will make anyone who likes to hike envious. This coming week, he is going on a 7-day road trip with Mommy and Daddy to Maine and Canada. There will be a lot of hiking involved. Everybody’s gotta pack their hiking boots.

First destination- Acadia National Park, Maine.

It is a beautiful day to visit the park.

Preston got to explore the ocean and lake and hike a rocky trail and a board walk.

The Flash Player and a browser with Javascript support are needed. After having so much fun canoeing on the Charles last year, Preston went on to try kayaking this weekend. Mommy and Daddy like kayaking better than canoeing but finding a good spot to sit on the kayak could be tricky for Preston.

There are many crazy individuals along the busy Charles river on this given day.

It was a fun family outing. Preston even got to jump off the kayak (with a little help from Mommy) and swim in the river.

While in the water, Preston started to panic when mommy and daddy paddled away…. of course they came back to pick him up.

It was a nice spring Sunday. Preston went hiking at Mount Misery. Unfortunately, his first hike of the year was ruined by the ticks. After spotting two ticks on Preston, Mommy and Daddy couldn’t get Preston out of the tick-infested grassy field fast enough. Tick-borne Lyme disease is endemic in New England and NOT fun to have. Mommy examined Preston thoroughly and did not find more ticks on him. Hopefully, Frontline Plus® does its job keeping the ticks out of Preston!

FYI: some good articles about ticks: Ticks on Dogs. and Canine Tick Disease FAQ.
Immediately after Preston came home from his sitter, Catherine, Mommy started packing Preston’s travel bag again but this time he got to go on the trip with Mommy and Daddy!
Preston may never visit Europe so Québec City is probably the closest for him to get a taste of Europe.
It is a long drive from Boston (7 hours!). Preston stopped in NH and played in the spring snow.

Bonjour from Old Québec!

Preston stayed at the very charming and dog-friendly Hotel du Vieux Québec. The hotel even allows quiet dogs to stay in the room by themself but of course, that is NOT Preston…

Old Quebec has the most beautiful architecture.

Mommy and Daddy dined at this charming french bistro, Le Lapin Saute, and yes…they ate bunny for dinner…

The incredible wall mural in Place Royale. Can you spot a puggle?

Preston was bummed out that he wasn’t allowed into the store but in the end, the gelato was well worth the wait.

Before heading home, Preston visited Chute Montmorency.

Ready to tackle the stairs!

There are not many 70 degree days in New England this time of the year so when the weather was this nice on Saturday, Mommy and Daddy couldn’t pass up the chance taking Preston to the beach. Mommy and Daddy drove along the scenic Maine coast and visited Portland, Maine.

Maine coast is beautiful and full of characters.

Can’t go home without tasting Maine lobster!
